DOCUMENTARIES

This is a documentary and two mini-docs Kristen Swilley co-produced during her senior year in the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication at FAMU.

INVISIBLE PREY

Illegal immigrants are invisible. Many avoid paper trails in order to escape detection by authorities, often in hopes of providing a better life for themselves and their families. By doing so, they place themselves in greater danger of being targeted for a variety of crimes. Many are also afraid to serve as witnesses, instead making the heart-wrenching decision to carry on without justice in order to survive. For criminals this creates an ideal scenario -- a victim whose fear of the government keeps them going to the authorities. In the most extreme cases, it can be deadly. Brandon McMullen and Kristen Swilley's "Invisible Prey" follows the journey of illegal immigrants emerging from the shadows in search of justice.

THE PROMISE

The Obama administration pledged to end veteran homelessness by 2015. In Brandon McMullen and Kristen Swilley's "The Promise," veterans say whether they think this is a feasible goal or an oath waiting to be broken.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR

Mary Ann and Gloria are best friends who pride themselves on their ability to stay positive during difficult times. That attitude was tested when Mary Ann was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. See how she decided to make the best of her situation.
